- The Airports Authority of India (AAI) have delayed the announcement of the outcome of the bidding process due to higher royalties quoted by bidders for ground handling services.Earlier,AAI had invited bids to privatise ground handling services at airports in India.
- Ground handling activities include (a)passenger services such as check-in and baggage handling (b)aircraft handling (c)servicing (d)cleaning and (e)cargo handling services.
- The Airports Authority of India or AAI is a statutory body (created through the Airports Authority of India Act, 1994) working under the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
- It is responsible for creating, upgrading, maintaining and managing civil aviation infrastructure in India.It provides Communication Navigation Surveillance / Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) services over Indian airspace and adjoining oceanic areas.
