  1. Biju Janta Dal’s (BJD) election symbol Conch (Sankha) has been playing a major role in promoting “Jodi Sankha” (double conch).  Jodi Sankha is a traditional folk dance native to Ganjam district, Odisha.
  2. The Jodi Sankha is a combined presentation of rural music along with Badya and Nrutya. The dance form is martial in nature. Other than conch, the accompanying musical instruments include Changu- Baja (a kind of drum) and Mahuri (Odia version of shehnai).
  3. Sound of conch is considered auspicious and Jodi Sankha troupes traditionally performed at religious functions, marriages and other processions. They also perform during cultural fests across India.
