  1. The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the Biomedical Research Career Programme (BRCP), and Wellcome Trust (WT) / DBT India Alliance. The extension is beyond the initial term (2008-09 to 2018-29) and will have a new five year phase (2019-20 to 2023-24).
  2. BRCP seeks to build and nurture talent of highest global standards in cutting-edge biomedical research in India. It is implemented by Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and Wellcome Trust. Wellcome Trust is a UK based biomedical research charity.
  3. Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance is an initiative funded equally by the Wellcome Trust, UK and Department of Biotechnology, India.
