  1. The Central Government has proposed to double the time limit available for filing an appeal against non-inclusion of persons in the National Register of Citizens(NRC) in Assam
  2. At present, the time limit for filing of appeal in foreigners tribunals(FTs) is 60 days. This will be amended to increase the time limit to 120 days.
  3. Under the provisions of the Foreigners Act,1946 and Foreigners (Tribunals) Order,1964 only Foreigners Tribunals are empowered to declare a person as a foreigner.
