- Recently, engineers from a Chinese start-up called LinkSpace has tested a reusable rocket in a move towards launching shoebox satellites into space.
- Shoebox satellites is name for tiny,inexpensive satellites launched into orbit.They are called shoebox because of their size as they weigh less than 10 kg.
- These satellites are expected to see an explosion in demand in the next few years.The expected demands is for services ranging from high-speed internet for aircraft to universities conducting experiments.
- Apart from the Chinese, American scientists have also been developing such satellites.One of these satellites called RainCube (Radar in a CubeSat), sponsored by NASA was launched into low-Earth orbit from the International Space Station in July 2018.
