About Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership
It was initiated and discussed in 2013 when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visited the US and met President Barack Obama and formalized in 2020 during former President Trump’s visit to India i.e. officially accepted as a new designation to the Indo-US relationship.
- Significance: Since 2005, both sides were only having a strategic partnership, but in 2020 it was raised one step higher. By taking the relationship to the level of Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, the US officially acknowledged India’s role in the global geopolitics.
