  • Cotton is the world’s most important fibre crop and the second most important oilseed crop.
  • Cotton is a Kharif Crop and grows well in tropical and subtropical areas.
  • It requires average Annual Rainfall of 55 to 100 cm.
  • It requires uniformly high temperature ranging from 21°C to 30°C.
  • The growth of cotton is retarded when the temperature falls below 20°C. Frost is enemy number one of the cotton plant and it is grown in areas having at least 210 frost-free days in a year. It grows in areas having at least 210 frost-free days in a year.
