The Focus Article of EPIC June 2023 covers the Prime Minister’s State Visit to the US and the Indo-US Relationship. Many foreign policy experts have called the visit as remarkable, both in optics and substance, leading to a new chapter in the Indo-US Relationship. The US has shown inclination to share cutting-edge technology with India in the defence sector, which it had been reluctant till now. However, it remains to be seen whether these promises actually deliver. India must remain cautious about its own strategic interests vis-à-vis the US-China rivalry. The Government has done well so far to exercise India’s strategic autonomy amidst the Russia-Ukraine war; increasing oil trade with Russia while improving closeness with the West.
