EC inquiry against Meghalaya Minister

1. The Election Commission has initiated an inquiry into alleged violation of model code of conduct by a Meghalaya Minister. He had used an official vehicle for election campaigning.
2. According to the Model Code of Conduct, no government transport including official air-crafts, vehicles etc. should be used for electioneering work.
3. Model code of Conduct (MCC) are the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India for conduct of political parties and candidates during elections.
4. The Model Code of Conduct is enforced from the date of announcement of election schedule by the Election Commission and is operational till the process of elections are completed.
