About Exercise Garuda

- Exercise Garuda is an air exercise between the Indian Air Force and the French Air and Space Force to promote interoperability and mutual learning.
- Origin: The exercise was first held in 2003.
- Frequency: It is held alternately in India and France.
- 2025 edition: Exercise Garuda 25 is the 8th edition of the bilateral Indo–French air exercise Garuda.
- Host: It was hosted at Air Base 118, Mont-de-Marsan, France.
- Participants: The Indian Air Force (IAF) participated with Su-30MKI fighters, supported by IL-78 air-to-air refuelling aircraft and C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft.
- Distinguish from Garuda Shakti: Garuda Shakti is a separate joint exercise between India and Indonesia, which focuses on special forces training and counter-terrorism.
