  1. Recently,Earth Hour was observed on March 30,2019.The theme of this year was #Connect2Earth.The UN headquarters in New York,the pyramids of Egypt and Rio’s Christ were among top world monuments under darkness for an hour to put the spotlight on climate change and its impact on the planet.
  2. Earth Hour is an annual international event organised by the World Wildlife fund for Nature.It is designed to raise awareness about global climate change.The campaign encourages governments,businesses and private citizens to turn off all unnecessary lights for an hour in order to promote conservation of energy resources.It was started in Sydney in 2007,Earth Hour has spread to more than 180 countries with tens of millions of people joining in.
  3. The World Wide Fund for Nature(WWF) is an international non-governmental organization founded in 1961, working in the field of wilderness preservation and the reduction of human impact on the environment. It was formerly named the World Wildlife Fund, which remains its official name in Canada and the United States.
  4. WWF is Headquartered at Gland,Switzerland.The group’s mission is to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.
