Governance is the action of ruling a legally constituted Government machinery. It requires rules to be followed and control over the institutions that are placed under it in a hierarchical manner. The political leaders frames policies either as an executive action or through statutory backing through the Legislature. The policies are later implemented by a bureaucracy.
In the present Indian Government emphasis has been placed upon “Minimum Government and Maximum Governance“. This refers to simplification of procedures and reducing red tape and envisaging the Government as an enabler for delivery of services in an efficient manner and achieve the principles of Good Governance.
