Recently, Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth launched “GRSE Accelerated Innovation Nurturing Scheme (GAINS 2024).
About GRSE Accelerated Innovation Nurturing Scheme (GAINS 2024)
1. The GRSE Accelerated Innovation Nurturing Scheme (GAINS 2024) was launched by the Defence Ministry in collaboration with Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) in Kolkata.
2. Objective:
i) GAINS aims to address challenges faced by shipyards and promote technology development through startups nurtured in India.
ii) It aligns with the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Start-up India’ policies.
iii) The scheme encourages Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Start-Ups to develop innovative solutions.
3. Aim: The scheme aims to foster technological advancements in ship design and construction.
4. Significance: GAINS strengthens maritime security and air defense by leveraging technological advancements. It contributes to self-reliance in defense manufacturing and enhances the operational capabilities of the armed forces.
