News: ISRO launched the Indian Navy’s GSAT-7R (CMS-03) from Sriharikota using LVM3, successfully inserting it into geosynchronous transfer orbit.
About GSAT-7R (CMS-03)

- GSAT-7R is an indigenously designed advanced communication satellite for the Indian Navy.
- Developed by: It is developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
- Operate by: It is operated by the Indian Navy.
- Orbit: It was inserted into a geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO).
- Rocket used: It was launched on LVM3-M5( its fifth operational flight).
- Purpose : It provides robust, secure telecommunication coverage across the Indian Ocean Region, linking ships, submarines, aircraft, and maritime operations centres.
- Key features
- Payload: It includes transponders for voice, data, and video links over C, extended C, and Ku bands.
- Size: Approximately 4,400 kg.
- Replaced: It will succeed GSAT-7 Rukmini (launched in 2013).
- Heaviest: This is the heaviest Indian-built communications satellite launched from Indian soil so far.
- Digital access: It will also provide higher-capacity bandwidth, thus improving digital access to remote territories.
- This will aid both civilian agencies and help improve strategic applications.
