News: A new study by International Institute for Environment and Development shows India faces worsening food insecurity under rising global temperature scenarios.

- Food insecurity gaps between rich and poor countries will widen, especially in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.

- India’s baseline score is 31, which is significantly below the global average of 6.74.
- India is ranked behind Brazil (6.72), Mexico (6.36), and Indonesia (5.87) in the index.
- India’s food security score is projected to decline to 96 at 1.5°C warming.
- The score is further expected to fall to 52 at 2°C, showing a steady worsening trend.
