- Nagaland Governor has said that the government has decided to make the Inner Line Permit applicable throughout the State, including the commercial hub of Dimapur.
- Under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act of 1853, non-Nagas should have ILP to visit the State, but Dimapur district was not included under the provisions.
- A British-era system, the Inner line Permit is a travel document that Indian citizens need to possess to enter the frontier States of north-eastern India.
- It is issued under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873, to regulate the movement of people who do not belong to these States.
- It is obligatory for Indian citizens from outside those states to obtain a permit for entering into the protected state.
- At present, the ILP is in force in (a)Arunachal Pradesh (b)Mizoram and (c)Nagaland.
