  1. Nagaland Governor has said that the government has decided to make the Inner Line Permit applicable throughout the State, including the commercial hub of Dimapur.
  2. Under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act of 1853, non-Nagas should have ILP to visit the State, but Dimapur district was not included under the provisions.
  3. A British-era system, the Inner line Permit is a travel document that Indian citizens need to possess to enter the frontier States of north-eastern India.
  4. It is issued under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873, to regulate the movement of people who do not belong to these States.
  5. It is obligatory for Indian citizens from outside those states to obtain a permit for entering into the protected state.
  6. At present, the ILP is in force in (a)Arunachal Pradesh (b)Mizoram and (c)Nagaland.
