Why in the News?
PM Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
What is Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence(GPAI)?
Specification | Details |
What is it? | It is a global, multi-stakeholder effort aimed at steering the responsible development and application of artificial intelligence. |
Objective | To narrow the divide between theory and practice in the field of AI. It is done by supporting cutting-edge research and facilitating applied activities focused on AI-related priorities. |
Hosted by | The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, as well as by two Centers of Expertise – one each in Montreal and Paris. |
Launched on | 1) It was first proposed by Canada and France at the 2018 44th G7 summit. 2) But it was officially launched on June 15, 2020 with fifteen founding members, including India. |
Members | Currently, it has 29 member countries. |
What are the key features of 2023 GPAI summit?
1) India is hosting the Annual GPAI Summit as the lead chair of GPAI for 2023-24.
2) The summit will feature various sessions covering a range of topics such as AI and global health, education and skilling, AI and data governance, and an ML Workshop.
3) Winners from the YUVAi initiative, along with startups, will have the opportunity to showcase their AI models and solutions.
Note– YUVAi programme designed to equip the youth with essential AI skills. It is the collaborative initiative of National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India and Intel India.
