- Defence ministry has approved major reforms in the Indian Armed forces.The reforms approved are (a)relocation of 229 officers from the Army headquarters (b)creation of a new post of deputy chief for military operations and strategic planning (c)setting up new wings for vigilance and human rights issues and (d)creation of a new information warfare wing.
- The number of officers being relocated is 20% of the total officers in the Army headquarters in the national capital.They will be deployed in forward locations along the borders with China and Pakistan.
- The post of Deputy Chief of the Army Staff Strategy DCOAS (Strategy) is being created to deal with (a)military operations (b)military intelligence, (c)strategic planning and (d)operational logistics.
- The function of Vigilance and Human rights wings will be to deal with the vigilance and human rights issues for the Indian Army .It is in accordance with the Army’s commitment to probity and transparency. Both these wings will be headed by Major General rank officers.
- The new information warfare wing has been created to deal with the needs of the future battlefield,hybrid warfare and social media reality.Hybrid warfare is a military strategy that employs political warfare and blends conventional warfare, irregular warfare and cyber warfare with other influencing methods,such as fake news,diplomacy,lawfare and foreign electoral intervention.
