About Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Sankalp

- Class: ICGS Sankalp is the first vessel of the Sankalp-class, followed by ICGS Samrat.

- Dimensions: It measures 105 m in length, 12.9 m in beam, and has a draft of 3.64 m.
- Displacement: The vessel has a full-load displacement of approximately 2,325 tonnes.
- Propulsion: It is powered by two SEMT Pielstick 20 PA6B STC diesel engines.
- Speed: The ship is capable of achieving a maximum speed of 23.5 knots.
- Operational range: It has an operational range of approximately 6,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots.
- Armament: The ship is armed with two 30 mm CRN-91 naval guns and two 12.7 mm heavy machine guns.
- It is fitted with advanced radar, navigation, and communication systems, including an Integrated Bridge System.
- The vessel features a helicopter deck and hangar, capable of operating HAL Dhruv or HAL Chetak helicopters, and can deploy up to five high-speed interceptor boats.
- It also carries pollution control equipment, external firefighting systems, and night-surveillance sensors.
- Operational Role: ICGS Sankalp regularly conducts patrols to safeguard India’s maritime interests and EEZ. The vessel supports anti-smuggling, anti-poaching, and maritime law enforcement operations.
