What is the news?
INS Khukri has been decommissioned after 32 years of glorious service.
What is INS Khukri?
INS Khukri is India’s first indigenously built Missile Corvettes(high-speed ships that have considerable firepower).
It was built by the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders and commissioned in 1989.
It had the distinction of being part of both the Western and Eastern Fleets.
The ship was affiliated with the Gorkha Brigade of the Indian Army.
During the service, the ship travelled a distance which is equivalent to navigating around the world 30 times, or 3 times the distance between the Earth and the Moon.
