News: The United Arab Emirates secretly carried out military strikes on Lavan Island of Iran during the recent Middle East conflict.
About Lavan Island

- Location: It is an Iranian island in the Persian Gulf, near the Strait of Hormuz.
- It is strategically located 18 km south of Bandar Mogham (Hormozgan Province) in the Persian Gulf.
- It is also known as the Hidden Pearl Island, which has long been home to pearl fishing.
- Area: It is 25 kilometres in length and 5 kilometres in width.
- Climate: It has hot and humid weather.
- Rainfall: The average annual rainfall on this island is about 114 millimetres.
- Economy: The main occupation of the people of Lavan port is working in the oil and fishing industry.
- Strategic importance: It is now one of the most important oil export terminals in Iran.
- It is the operating base for three offshore fields of Iran, namely, Salman, Resalat and Reshadat.
- Infrastructure: The Iranian Offshore Oil Company operates processing facilities, storage tanks, and a jetty on the island that handles crude oil exports. These facilities make the island an important hub for petroleum logistics and offshore oil operations.
- Also, Salman Field, located 144 kilometres south of Lavan Island, has one of the largest offshore installations in the Persian Gulf.
