Marginal Standing Facility (MSF)

Marginal Standing Facility is a penal rate at which banks can borrow from the RBI on an overnight basis (one day) over and above what is available under the LAF.

The loan is given against the mortgage of eligible securities.

It is always fixed above the repo rate. It is pegged 100 basis points or 1 % point above the repo rate.
