Movie won’t affect Ayodhya mediation: SC
- The Supreme Court has observed that a movie cannot affect the outcome of the mediation process in Ayodhya case. The observation comes in the backdrop of a petition that has urged the SC to stop the release of a film ‘Ram Ki Janmabhoomi’ as it may impact the mediation in the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri land dispute case.
- The Supreme Court had referred the Ayodhya case for a formal mediation. The Court had formed a mediation panel headed by former SC judge Justice F M Kalifullah.
- Mediation is one of the methods of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) – the procedure for settling disputes without litigation. Mediation is a procedure in which the parties discuss their disputes with the assistance of a trained impartial third person(s) who assists them in reaching a settlement.
