News: The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards for the year 2026 to the nursing personnel, on the occasion of International Nurses Day, at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

- The Florence Nightingale Awards are India’s most prestigious recognition for exceptional nurses and healthcare professionals.
- Instituted by: The National Florence Nightingale Awards were instituted in 1973 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
- Frequency: It is held annually on May 12th which is also celebrated as International Nurses Day and Florence Nightingale’s birth anniversary.
- It recognise individuals who exemplify the spirit of Florence Nightingale through their selfless service, clinical excellence, and compassionate care.
