News: NATO Chief said that if North Korea were to send troops to Ukraine to fight on Russia’s behalf, then it would significantly escalate the conflict.
1. North Atlantic Treaty Organisation is a Western political and military alliance founded in 1949, with 12 founding members.
2. It was established by the signing of the Washington Treaty.
3. It seeks to secure a lasting peace in Europe and North America, based on its member countries’ common values of individual liberty, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
4. It is committed to the principle of the collective defence, which means that an attack against one or several of its members is considered as an attack against all.
5. Currently, NATO has 32 members. Sweden is the latest country to join the alliance.
6. It is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.
