Why in the News?
The Ministry of Home Affairs has authorized the construction of 113 roads as part of the Vibrant Village Programme, focusing on enhancing connectivity in regions along the borders of Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Sikkim.
About newly sanctioned roads under the Vibrant Village Programme

| Targeted Villages | 2,967 villages across 19 districts in Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, and Ladakh. |
| Execution and Monitoring | 1. Installation of GPS-enabled vehicle tracking devices mandated to monitor construction activity. 2. States tasked with ensuring GPS system installation in key machinery and equipment. |
| Strategic Importance and Objectives | 1. Strategic Objective: This move motivates residents to stay in border villages, aiding in intelligence gathering. 2. Countermeasure: This will address Chinese expansion of model villages near the Line of Actual Control. |
