News: India, and the world, needs to bolster climate adaptive strategies.
1. Global Goal on Adaptation: This concept was introduced by the Paris Agreement in 2015.
2. It aims to enhance adaptive capacity, strengthen resilience and reduce vulnerability to climate change to limit the increase in global average temperature to well below 2-degree Celsius.
3. Adaptation Gap Report: It is an annual publication by the United Nations Environment Programme.
4. It aims to identify the gaps between the adaptation needs of the countries and the actions being taken to address those needs.
5. UAE Framework for Global Climate Resilience: It was adopted at the CoP 28 in Dubai in 2023, with a goal to make climate adaptation a top priority for all nations.
