News: Recently, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested eight individuals and identified 45 suspects as part of Operation HAECHI-VI.
About Operation HAECHI-VI

- Operation HAECHI-VI is an international law enforcement operation launched by INTERPOL.
- It aimed to target transnational cyber-enabled financial crimes in 40 countries.
- It targets seven major categories of cyber-enabled financial crimes: Cyber-enabled financial crime, Voice phishing, Love/romance scams, Online sextortion, Investment fraud, Money laundering linked to illegal online gambling and Business email compromise and e-commerce fraud.
- India’s Participation through CBI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) actively participated in the operation.
- Significance of operation:
- It demonstrates India’s proactive global role in tackling cyber-enabled financial and sexual exploitation crimes.
- It showcases coordinated global enforcement against criminals exploiting digital platforms for financial and sexual offences.
- It strengthened international cooperation between CBI, INTERPOL, FBI, and German law enforcement agencies.
