Pakke(or Pakhui) Tiger Reserve:

About– It is also a wildlife sanctuary, situated in the East Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. It got the status of  26th Tiger Reserve in 2002 under Project Tiger.

It has an area of 861.95 Sq.Km with geographical variations of terai and rugged siwalik ranges.

Boundary– It is bounded by Bhareli or Kameng River in the west and north, and by Pakke River in the east. The southern boundary of reserve slopes towards Brahmaputra river. The reserve adjoins Nameri T.R of Assam.

Rivers- The protected area falls within the land area of Pakke river and Kameng river.

Vegetation- Most of the hill slopes and upper reaches the vegetation is more of evergreen. Along the river course, the vegetation is deciduous,  with some cane and Bamboo.

-Humid condition provides a room for the growth of epiphytes, mosses, ferns etc.

Fauna- Besides supporting Tigers,Leopards and Elephants, the reserve is famous for Hornbills. Also founded here, is Hog deer and Barking deer.

Wildlife protection-The people living around the park belong to the Nyishi community. The Ghora Aabhe (a group of village chiefs) and Women Self Help Groups help authorities in wildlife protection by providing information and enforcing customary laws.
