  1. Indian Prime Minister has laid the foundation stone for the Sela Tunnel Project through Sela Pass in Arunachal Pradesh. Sela Pass is a mountain pass located on the border between the Tawang and West Kameng Districts of Arunachal Pradesh. It connects Tawang to Dirang and Guwahati (Assam).
  2. The Sena Tunnel aims to provide all weather connectivity to Tawang and other forward areas in Arunachal Pradesh. It also seeks to cut travel time to Tawang by at least an hour for Indian troops stationed in Tezpur, Assam. Tezpur is the headquarters of the Indian army’s IV Corps- a military field formation of the Indian Army.
  3. Tawang has been a disputed area between India and China. Tawang is claimed by China as a part of South Tibet.
