POWER 50 has begun.
Over the next fifty days, the entire PSIR Optional syllabus gets revised once — properly — in the order the syllabus is actually built: theory and thinkers first, then Indian government and politics, then comparative politics and international relations, and finally India and the world. Day 1 — Political Theory: Meaning & Approaches
We begin where the subject begins.
Today’s capsule covers the meaning of ‘the political’ and the five senses of the word; politics, power and the state; the nature and scope of political theory after Sabine; and the full sweep of approaches — normative, behavioural, post-behavioural, systems and philosophical — through to the decline and resurgence of political theory and the post-colonial critique of Eurocentrism. Every concept and scholar from the Foundation and OGP class, compressed for fast recall.
