POWER 50 has begun.
Over the next fifty days, the entire PSIR Optional syllabus gets revised once — properly — in the order the syllabus is actually built: theory and thinkers first, then Indian government and politics, then comparative politics and international relations, and finally India and the world. One topic a day. A crisp capsule each morning, drawn from the same material we teach in depth in the PSIR Foundation Course, carrying a trend analysis of the previous years’ questions and the areas that matter most for this year’s paper.
Two more tracks run alongside it. PSIR Dynamics 2026 keeps the current affairs sharp — short notes on the thirty-four dynamic clusters most likely to shape this year’s paper. And the PYQ Vault puts all 560 questions from the last ten years through your hands, roughly eleven a day, nothing left out.
The method is simple, and it is the whole point: read the capsule, write something the same day, move on. Don’t break the chain.
Day 1 — Political Theory: Meaning & Approaches
We begin where the subject begins.
Today’s capsule covers the meaning of ‘the political’ and the five senses of the word; politics, power and the state; the nature and scope of political theory after Sabine; and the full sweep of approaches — normative, behavioural, post-behavioural, systems and philosophical — through to the decline and resurgence of political theory and the post-colonial critique of Eurocentrism. Every concept and scholar from the Foundation and OGP class, compressed for fast recall.
It is a foundation that pays every single year. Between 2016 and 2025, this unit alone carried eight 10-markers, four 15-markers and two 20-markers.
Write before the evening:
- Provide a comparative analysis of behavioural and institutional approaches. (UPSC 2025, 20m)
- “Credo of Relevance in post-behaviouralism advocates the importance of action science.” Analyse. (UPSC 2023, 15m)
- Elucidate the meanings inherent in the term ‘political’ with appropriate illustrations. (UPSC 2024, 20m)
If you go blank on a point, it is covered in full in your Foundation and OGP class notes and handouts — revise it, then write.
