Purchasing power parity means the equality of buying capacity. Purchasing power parity is an economic idea which allows the comparison between currencies of various countries.

It helps in determination of exchange rate based on buying capacity of respective currencies in their home country.

Simply, it is the price level in India with which an Indian can buy the same basket of goods and services which can be bought by 1$ in the USA
