Quarterly-SFG-Jan-to-March
Red Book

[A] 1 only

[B] 2 only

[C] Both 1 and 2

[D] Neither 1 nor 2

Answer: D
Notes:

Explanations –

Statements 1 and 2 are incorrect. Article 355 imposes a duty on the Union to protect states against external aggression and internal disturbances and to ensure that state governance is carried out in accordance with constitutional provisions. However, the imposition of President’s Rule is provided under Article 356. Financial instability or crisis is not considered a valid ground for imposing President’s Rule under Article 356. The grounds for President’s Rule are limited to the breakdown of constitutional machinery or failure to comply with Union directives as per Article 365.
