According to the RTI Amendment Act of 2019, the central Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioners will be appointment “for such term as may be prescribed by the Central Government” through rules. As per 2019 RTI rules the CIC and ICs (at the central and state level) will hold office for a term of three years.

Statement 1 is correct: The Centre shall have the powers to set the salaries and service conditions of Information Commissioners at central as well as state levels.

Statement 2 is correct: The amendment allows the Central government to control through rules, the terms and conditions of appointment of Commissioners in the States.
