Explanation – The eSakshya (e-evidence) mobile application is designed to help police record and upload crime scene evidence digitally. It allows police to record scenes of crime, search and seizure in criminal cases, and upload the files to a cloud-based platform. It aims to fulfill the requirements of the new Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which mandates compulsory audio-video recording of search and seizure in each criminal case. The application was developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
