Notes:

Exp) Option c is the correct answer.

Statement 1 is correct: The Constitution (Article 76) has provided for the office of the Attorney General for India. However, the Constitution of India does not mention about the solicitor general and additional solicitor general. Solicitor General and Additional Solicitor General’s office are governed by Law Officers (Conditions of Service) Rules, 1987.

Statement 2 is correct: In the performance of his official duties, the Attorney General has the right to speak and to take part in the proceedings of both the Houses of Parliament or their joint sitting and any committee of the Parliament of which he may be named a member, but without a right to vote. The solicitor general has no right to speak and participate in the proceedings of the parliament.

Important Tips

The Constitution does not contain the procedure and grounds for the removal of Attorney General of India. He holds office at the pleasure of the President.
