Explanation – The Carlsberg Ridge is an underwater mid-ocean ridge situated in the Indian Ocean, specifically in the northwest region. It is a part of the complex tectonic structure of the region and separates the Arabian Plate from the Indian Plate. Recently, India has applied to the International Seabed Authority (ISA) for licenses to explore the Carlsberg Ridge and Afanasy-Nikitin Seamount for minerals like cobalt and manganese.
