Explanation – Honduras, officially known as the Republic of Honduras (República de Honduras), is a Central American country. Honduras is situated in Central America, bordered by: Guatemala to the west, El Salvador to the southwest, Nicaragua to the southeast, the Caribbean Sea to the north, and the Pacific Ocean (via the Gulf of Fonseca) to the south. Costa Rica does not share a land border with Honduras.
