The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) is a regional multilateral organization. This sub-regional organization came into being in 1997 through the Bangkok Declaration.

It consists of 7 members from South and South-east Asia. Its members are India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand.

Indonesia, Malaysia are also littoral countries of Bay of Bengal but are not part of the BIMSTEC.
