The COP27 agreement on loss and damage is significant, but the meeting did not address several other pressing issues. Analyze the statement.
Highlight the key takeaways from the recently concluded summit of the Group of 20 nations in Bali, Indonesia. What lessons can India learn from it?





Looks great! Another crucial aspect was how the communique balanced the language on Ukraine war, without offending the West and Russia/China. This required skilful diplomacy. India’s stance of ‘no time of war’ was prominent.
As the gap between the West and Russia persists, same will be a contentious issue next year as well, so India should adopt proactive and deft policy to set the agenda.
Also it represents the rising role of ‘middle powers’ instead of West/Russia on global issues.

I’m not sure if Issues like population control, soil pollution, sanitation etc. are discussed in climate talks. Please share the source if this is so.
Answer seems to have deviated a lot from the statement. Highlight the issues/challenges with the Loss and Damage, and the issue of low climate action so far. It was expected that countries would have pledged higher targets but that didn’t happen. UN Reports on Emissions Gap and Adaptation Gap have highlighted the same.

Loss and Damage, Coffee Club (Pakistan is not a member of G20), disaster resilience etc. are not discussed in G20. Highlight the role of diplomacy in achieving the balance of West and Russia amidst rising differences. India should be proactive in setting the agenda. The summit also reflected the rising role of ‘middle powers’ in global diplomacy.
