About Siliserh Lake

- Siliserh Lake is a human-made lake and wetland that has now been recognised as India’s 96th Ramsar site.
- Location: It is located in Alwar district in the state of Rajasthan.
- It lies within the buffer zone of the Sariska Tiger Reserve.
- It is located in a semi-arid zone and serves as an important water source for the region.
- Construction: It was built in 1845 by Maharaja Vinay Singh, the ruler of Alwar.
- It was created by constructing an embankment on a tributary of the Ruparel River.
- The lake was mainly built to supply drinking water to Alwar city.
About Kopra Jalashay
- Location: It is located near Bilaspur, in the state of Chhattisgarh.
- It is the first Ramsar site to be notified in Chhattisgarh.
- It is a reservoir-type wetland that was originally constructed mainly for irrigation and is now recognized for its ecological value.
- River associated: It is situated in the upper catchments of the River Mahanadi.Biodiversity
- It supports more than 60 migratory bird species that depend on it for nesting, feeding, and as a stop-over site.
- Notable fauna found in the area include the vulnerable greater spotted eagle and the endangered Egyptian vulture.
