Why in the News?
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted three flight-tests of the advanced 4th Generation Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS). The tests were carried out on October 03 and 04, 2024, at the Pokhran Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan.
Key Test Outcomes
The trials demonstrated the missile system’s critical capabilities, including:
i) Maximum Range and Altitude: Interception capabilities against high-speed aerial targets at maximum range and altitude.
ii) Hit-to-Kill Repeatability: Successful engagement of targets in various scenarios, such as approaching, receding, and crossing targets.
