News: Recently, the Government e Marketplace (GeM) celebrated six years of the Startups, Women & Youth Advantage through eTransactions (SWAYATT) initiative at its headquarters in New Delhi.

About SWAYATT Initiative

  • It was launched in 2019 to enhance the market access for women entrepreneurs, youth, startups, Micro & Small Enterprises (MSEs), and Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
  • SWAYATT embodies GeM’s commitment to social inclusion, fostering economic empowerment, and democratizing access to government procurement opportunities
  • This initiative was launched to enhance the participation of startups, women entrepreneurs, and youth in government procurement.
  • Focus Areas:
    • Training & .of last-mile sellers.
    • Encouraging women’s entrepreneurship and participation of small-scale businesses in public procurement.
    • Addressing key challenges: “access to market,” “access to finance,” and “access to value-addition.”
  • Key Features of SWAYATT:
    • “Startup Runway” & “Womaniya” storefronts for visibility of startups, women entrepreneurs, and youth.
    • MoU with FICCI-FLO: Partnership to support and empower over 9,500 women entrepreneurs through advocacy and training.
    • Udyam-Verified Sellers: More than 1,77,786 women-led MSEs registered on GeM, completing orders totaling ₹46,615 crore.
