The status of civil war in Sudan

News: The civil war in Sudan, between two military factions- Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces, has been going on for more than 18 months.

1. International Organisation for Migration (IOM): It was established in 1951 as a part of the United Nations system.

2. Its aim is to promote humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all by providing services and advice concerning migration to governments and migrants alike.

3. The civil war in Sudan has spread from Khartoum to Omdurman, Bahri, Port Sudan, El Fasher, Port Sudan cities as well as the Darfur and Kordofan states.

4. Abyei Region is a disputed oil rich land between Sudan and South Sudan, which is marked by ethnic violence.

5. Human Rights Watch is an international non-governmental organisation that conducts research and advocacy on a wide range of human rights issues.

6. It was established in 1978 and is headquartered in New York City, United States.
