- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has approved a new rule for expats under which foreign workers will now be able to sponsor their family members if they fulfil a certain income criteria.This move is expected to benefit lakhs of Indians.
- Earlier,’Professions’ was the criteria for UAE expatriates to sponsor their family.He had to be employed in certain categories for him to be eligible to sponsor his family.For example,domestic helpers and certain other categories were not entitled to sponsor their families irrespective of their monthly income.
- According to the Indian Embassy in the UAE,Indians in the UAE constitute the largest part of population of the country.Approximately 3.3 million non-resident Indians constitute about 30% of the total population of the UAE.
