The Supreme Court last Monday, asked about the progress on the extra attempt for UPSC aspirants in 2021.
In response, the Center has told SC that
Further, the Additional Solicitor General (ASG) requested for an adjournment of the hearing to the first week of February.
SC although scheduled next hearing in Feb., also cautioned ASG that the last day of filling forms for the exam should not be passed without a decision.
Extra Attempt Petition
In September, the Supreme Court refused to postpone the Prelims examination,2020 but recorded the assurance from the government to take a decision on granting an extra chance to “last-attempters”.
On September 30, Center and the UPSC were directed by SC to consider granting an extra chance to candidates who otherwise have their last attempt in 2020, with a corresponding extension of the upper age-limit.
