What is the pattern of UPSC Interviews/Personality Tests?

The interview panel usually consists of 4–5 members, including one chairperson. The duration varies between 20 and 45 minutes. The questions are often based on the candidate’s Detailed Application Form (DAF), current affairs, optional subject, and general knowledge.

The UPSC Personality Test aims to assess not just your knowledge, but your personality, ability to handle pressure, decision-making skills, and how you think on your feet. The interview is not a test of factual knowledge, but a test of the candidate’s ability to express opinions clearly and logically.
