About GS Paper 2

Subject: Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice, and International Relations.

Marks: 250

Duration: 3 hours

Key Areas Covered:

  1. Indian Constitution and Polity: This includes topics related to the historical underpinnings of the Indian Constitution, features of the Constitution, Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles, Parliament and State Legislatures, Executive, Judiciary, and other constitutional bodies.
  2. Governance: This section deals with topics related to governance, transparency, and accountability, e-governance applications, and models, as well as the role of civil services in a democracy.
  3. Social Justice: This encompasses issues related to welfare schemes for vulnerable sections of the population, mechanisms, laws, institutions, and bodies constituted for the protection and betterment of these vulnerable sections.
  4. International Relations: This section covers India’s relations with its neighboring countries, bilateral, regional, and global groupings, and agreements involving India and affecting its interests, as well as the effect of policies and politics of developed and developing countries on India’s interests.
