The failure of plantation of tea in shivalik as compared to success in northeast was because –

1. The combination of rainfall required (150 cm ) the soil required and the warmer temperature (20-35°c ) required were more suitable in the climate of northeast as compared to shivalik .

2. Earlier the plantation were managed by the British traders who were proficient in the technological know-how of tea plantation, but later the locals of himachal and uttarakhand took charges of plantation estates which caused a management and procedural blunder in the estates and ultimately the Himalayan /shivalik plantation lost its compitition with northeastern tea

3. Since the north eastern region were close to port cities of eastern coasts as compared to Himachal or uttarakhand, ur was a benefit for the north eastern tea facilities.
